Every so often, I\u2019m wont to pick up a science fiction novel at random. That\u2019s how I came across this very interesting read. I must say it took quite a while \u2014 about twelve chapters \u2014 to finally get to the juicy, action-filled parts. Before that it was largely background information in the form of a Dokaalan\u2019s diary, most of which could have been left out or quickly summarized without losing much.<\/div>\n

Nonetheless, the second half was much more interesting, with several harrowing scenes of adventure and many plots opened, to be continued in the next offering. Will the Enterprise<\/em> be able to save the miners from an explosion? Who are the secretive people plotting against the Dokaalan, and why would they want to sabotage their efforts? What will happen to the critically-disabled crewmember? This book and those that follow tell the intriguing story.<\/div>\n
