As usual, thoughts of Thanksgiving Day brought me to reflect upon all the things I have for which I am truly thankful. Drumroll, please — here’s my list:
- I’m thankful to God for my very life and everything in it.
- I’m thankful for salvation through Jesus Christ – God coming to Earth to die for sinful humanity, in order that we would become His children.
- I’m thankful for Godly, loving, selfless parents. I’ll always treasure their Christian example, wise advice and unconditional love.
- I’m thankful for the joy of raising two smart, funny, creative, musical and/or analytical boys who love God.
- I’m thankful for a Godly wife who lovingly raises her children, works to help the family and remains committed to our marriage no matter what.
- I’m thankful for a church family to help me grow closer to Christ, my family and others; for solid Scriptural teaching; and the opportunity to sing and play music for God.
- I’m thankful for a complete and fully-functional body and brain, with which I can enjoy and develop the talents God has given me, time with my family and friends, and the occasional frivolity.
- I’m thankful for my job, good coworkers, being able to provide for my family, and transportation to get to work and elsewhere.
- I’m thankful for the generosity of strangers and friends; we’ve been blessed many times.
- I’m thankful for a heated, lighted home, and more good things in my life than I often acknowledge.
This is by no means an exhaustive list, but it’s a good start. What’s on yours?
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” -Psalm 107:1, NIV
